MISSION HAWAII

For years, the Mission Viejo Football Program has cherished its deep connection with the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Each season, our young athletes have had the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in the island's vibrant culture, embarking on thrilling adventures and bonding with local Hawaiian football teams through friendly competition.

However, the recent devastation caused by the Maui fires has profoundly impacted our community. Many of our coaches, players, and their families hold a special place in their hearts for Hawaii, making this tragedy deeply personal.

Inspired by the Hawaiian saying, "Hānai i ke keiki, ola ka lāhui" (Nurture the child and the lāhui thrives), we are committed to giving back. For every shirt sold, a percentage of the proceeds will go towards supporting those affected by the Maui fires. Together, we can help nurture and rebuild the vibrant communities that have given us so much joy and unforgettable memories.

Join us in this heartfelt mission to support our Hawaiian friends and family during their time of need.

MISSION HAWAII DESIGN INSPIRATION

Inspired by the Hawaiian saying, "Hānai i ke keiki, ola ka lāhui" (Nurture the child and the lāhui thrives), Mission Hawaii is dedicated to giving back.

For every shirt sold, a portion of the proceeds will support those affected by the Maui fires. Together, we can help nurture and rebuild the vibrant communities that have brought us so much joy and unforgettable memories.

Our design draws inspiration from the Hawaiian triangle pattern, or maka ihe. In Hawaiian, Tahitian, Samoan, and Maori cultures, triangles represent the tip of the spear, a symbol of both life and death. The spear plays a significant role in ancient Polynesian beliefs, symbolizing life through hunting on land and sea. By incorporating this meaningful pattern, our design pays homage to the resilience and strength of the Hawaiian people, embodying the spirit of community and support.

Join us in this heartfelt mission to support our Hawaiian friends and family during their time of need.

WHAT DOES THE HAWAIIAN TRIANGLE PATTERN MEAN?

Triangles, or maka ihe, represent the tip of the spear in Hawaiian, Tahitian, Samoan, and Maori cultures.
The spear is significant in ancient Polynesian beliefs because it represents both life and death, and was part of tribal life.
A spear represents life in that it is used to hunt, both on land and in the sea
